Rhode Island Site Search Fails To Turn Up Pyrotechnic Devices

West Warwick police searched the site of The Station nightclub fire earlier this month, in hopes of finding pyrotechnic devices, according to The Providence Journal.

Instead, they found items such as clothing, watchbands, cellular phones and fire extinguishers.

The items were listed on documents filed today in Kent County District Court.

According to the search warrant return, West Warwick police searched the rubble of The Station on March 6. This was the second time investigators combed through the wreckage left by the worst fire in the state's history.

On the March 6 visit, police were looking specifically for pyrotechnic devices, ignition devices, switches, sparklers or any type of notes or documents that dealt with band concerts or contracts.

There was no indication they found those items, according to the documents.

They also were searching for personal items and employee information to help identify the victims, according to the documents.

The Feb. 20 fire killed 99 people and injured nearly 190. The fire started when GREAT WHITE's pyrotechnics display set fire to foam soundproofing in the building.
